Knowing God Exists

Locke explains that God is proven true without showing himself of any definitive form, but because we have knowledge and ideas. Even though he doesn't believe God is innate, he still believes that God is a definitive factor in our lives even though we may question it is what I got from it. He gives multiple examples of how God is obvious without us having to think about it any more then what he presents.

i too got the same impression from locke. locke does believe that god is an important factor in our lives and that he is to be worshiped and what not. but according to locke, the idea of god and worship is learned through experiences and learning. in a way i do agree with locke but i also believe that the idea of god is innate. whether we learn it or not how do we know that god is to be worship? where did the idea of god come from if its not innate? on this argument, descartes believes that the idea of god was put into our minds by god himself.

The idea of God was transcended through out generations by word of mouth, stories, and traditions. You cannot say that KNOWING of God is an innate idea because as a new born child we know NOTHING about a God, nor do we care at all. God may or may not be an "imporant factor" to people, as francinia said, because there are people in this world who don't know, care, or believe in God at all. For those who do believe KNOW that God is around from what they are told about Him. But, personally speaking, HOW do we physically KNOW, and how come there are no true, solid evidence besides word of mouth.
