God vs. perfection

Descartes discusses how he finds out nothing in the world in ultimate perfection. The only perfect thing in existence is God himself and anything else has a flaw or imperfection of some kind. He also goes on to describe how the examples with flaws are made by God because no matter how close to perfection it can be, nothing can be absolutely perfect or else that would mean him, or anyone else would be God.

Isn't interesting that he talks about the only perfect thing that he is sure of it god but its the one thing that really cannot be proved by hard evidence? He talks about how there has to be proof but really there isn't any to support God.

i touched on this in the class discussion a bit and in a comment on someone elses post. The first thing Descarte askes us to do is disregard anything you know and doubt everything untill you could prove it with concrette evidence. Then he tries to prove gods existance by saying he isn't perfect. He's trying to say that something perfect must have put the ideas in his head and that something perfect must be god but the whole thing seems a little weird to me...

I think he really contradicts himself here. It is really confusing but maybe its suposed to be so people like us are still sitting here centuries later trying to comprehend all this....

This is a very tough topic to agree or disagree on because this can never really be proved. Most of us are supposed to believe that God is superior and we are to worship no other God, but it can never be proved if God is perfect himself either. This topic can be talked about for many more years to come.

I agree because he says that God is all perfect and all truthful. And rachel made a good point that God can't be proven by any hard evidence but i think maybe this is exactly why he says God is all perfect and all truthful. I think he says this so you just believe God is existent because he told you that he is all truthful, concluding that you should believe in God based on his trust.
